About the role
Meridian is building a decentralized perpetual-futures exchange — an on-chain order book with the latency, depth and reliability traders expect from a centralized venue, and none of the custody. We are hiring a Senior Developer to own critical parts of the matching, settlement and market-data layers that keep the exchange fast and correct under load.
You will work across the stack — from the Rust services that price and match orders to the TypeScript tooling our partners integrate against — with a small, senior team that ships to production continuously. This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership: you will make architectural decisions, review the work of others, and see your code settle live trades within the week.
What you will do
- Design, build and operate low-latency services for order matching, risk and settlement across our supported chains.
- Own the market-data pipeline end to end — ingestion, normalization and the public streaming APIs our clients depend on.
- Write and review smart contracts and the off-chain infrastructure that interacts with them, with correctness and safety as first principles.
- Instrument the platform for observability and define the alerting that lets a small team run a 24/7 venue.
- Raise the engineering bar through code review, technical design documents and mentoring of mid-level engineers.
- Collaborate with product and quant teams to turn trading requirements into resilient, well-tested systems.
What we are looking for
- 7+ years building production backend systems, with a track record of owning services end to end.
- Strong command of Rust or Go for performance-critical services, and fluent TypeScript / Node.js.
- Experience with distributed systems, concurrency and the failure modes of always-on infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of the EVM, Solidity and the security considerations of on-chain code.
- Comfort with PostgreSQL, containerized deployments and CI/CD in a continuous-delivery environment.
- Clear written communication and the judgement to know when correctness outweighs speed.
Nice to have: prior work at a trading venue or exchange, experience with high-frequency market data, or open-source contributions to DeFi protocols.
